BC Recreation Site — Maintained to Standard — 3 campsites — Notice: The Horseshoe Rapids Recreation Site (REC5022) will be closed to the public from May 27-29. The site will be closed to facilitate BC Wildfire Training and Danger tree assessment and falling work. Your cooperation and understanding is greatly appreciated. Whitewater paddlers often use this quiet, out-of-the-way campsite on the west bank of the Kootenay River. The three sites can accommodate tents and truck campers, but not trailers as there is little room to turn around. To paddlers, the Horseshoe Rapids are classified as medium difficulty Class III rapids located along a scenic reach of the Kootenay River.
