Campground Camping — Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest — TUMWATER CAMPGROUND CLOSED In 2014 Tumwater Campground was closed due to risk of debris flows and flooding resulting from conditions created by the Chiwaukum Fire. Tumwater Campground was already suffering from aging infrastructure at that time. In the intervening years of closure the campground sewage treatment system was determined to be inoperable and in need of replacement, hazard trees in the area accumulated, and other infrastructure passed the point of serviceability. The Forest would like to redesign and repair Tumwater Campground to return it to service while also performing stream restoration activities in the adjacent Chiwaukum Creek.
