Campground Camping — San Juan National Forest — Junction Creek Campground is located just 5 miles northwest of Durango, is a good base camp for area activities. Four camping loops are nestled amongst the ponderosa pines with a total of 44 campsites, 29 reservable sites and 14 sites with electrical hook-ups. Junction Creek Campground also has one group campsite accommodating up to 50 people. Junction Creek Day Use / Picnic Area: The day-use loop has one group picnic site that can accommodate 65 people and includes a pavilion, horseshoe pits, volleyball court, and electrical hookups. This group day use area is reservable.. There is also one family picnic site available on a first-come, first-served basis.
